Ferry
The most common way to reach Virgin Islands National Park is by ferry from St. Thomas. Ferries depart regularly from Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay, St. John. From Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas, a taxi to Red Hook costs approximately $35-$40 and takes about 30-45 minutes. The passenger ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay costs $8.15 per person each way and takes about 20 minutes. Alternatively, a taxi from the airport to Charlotte Amalie costs around $20, and the ferry to Cruz Bay is approximately $12 per person. Upon arrival in Cruz Bay, the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center is a short walk away.

Public Transport
Once on St. John, the Vitran Bus System offers limited service along Centerline Road (Route 10), connecting Cruz Bay with Coral Bay and Salt Pond Bay. The bus operates on an hourly schedule, but service can be unreliable. The fare is approximately $1-$3 per ride. From Cruz Bay, the bus stop is near the customs dock. Be aware that there is no bus service along North Shore Road (Route 20).

Taxis are readily available at the Cruz Bay ferry dock. Safari taxis, open-air vehicles, are a popular option for getting around the island. A taxi from Cruz Bay to Trunk Bay, for example, costs approximately $10-$15 per person. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Taxis can also be hired for island tours.
