By Car
If you are traveling from cities in Central Northern Bulgaria like Veliko Tarnovo or Gabrovo, take the A1 motorway towards Sofia. After approximately 100 km, take the exit toward Samokov (E80). Continue on E80 for about 30 km until you reach Samokov. From Samokov, follow signs for Rila National Park. The journey takes about 2 hours depending on traffic. Make sure to check road conditions as they can vary, especially in winter months.

By Public Transportation
To reach Rila National Park by public transport, take a bus from Sofia to Samokov. Buses depart regularly from the South Bus Station in Sofia and take about 1.5 hours. Once in Samokov, transfer to a local bus heading to the park entrance or to the nearby village of Rila. The local bus ride is approximately 30 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as local bus services may not run frequently.

If you prefer a more comfortable option, consider taking a taxi from Samokov to Rila National Park. Taxi services are available at the bus station in Samokov.
