Discover the Serene Beauty of the Meanders of Arda River

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Smolyan, which is situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains. Take the road E80 towards Kardzhali. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the town of Madzharovo. From Madzharovo, follow the signs for Gorno Pole. The Meanders of Arda River are located just outside of the village. Look for the scenic viewpoints along the road that lead to the river. Parking is available near the viewpoints.

Public Transportation

For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Smolyan to Kardzhali. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Kardzhali, transfer to a local bus heading to Madzharovo. Buses may not run frequently, so consult a schedule in advance. Upon arriving in Madzharovo, you can either walk (approximately 3 kilometers) towards Gorno Pole to reach the Meanders of Arda River or hire a local taxi for the short distance, which should cost around 10-15 BGN.

Taxi

If you prefer a more direct route and are in Madzharovo, consider taking a taxi to the Meanders of Arda River. Taxis are available in the town, and the fare to the river should be approximately 10-15 BGN. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey, as taxi meters may not always be used.

Walking

If you are already in Gorno Pole, the Meanders of Arda River are easily accessible by foot. Follow the local paths to the scenic viewpoints. The walk is approximately 2 kilometers and provides beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Ensure you have proper walking shoes, as some paths can be rugged.
