Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start by heading to Bansko, a popular town in the Rila Mountains. From Bansko, take the road to Borovets. Once in Borovets, follow the signs to the Rila National Park and Musala Mountain. There is a parking area at the base of the gondola lift. The parking fee is approximately 10 BGN (Bulgarian Lev) for a full day. From the gondola station, you can take the gondola lift up to the Musala Hut (approximately 2,400 meters). The gondola ticket costs around 25 BGN for a round trip.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Musala Peak using public transportation, first take a bus to Borovets from Sofia, which is a major city in Bulgaria. Buses run frequently and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Borovets, you can walk to the gondola lift station. The lift will take you up to Musala Hut. Remember to buy the gondola lift ticket, which costs roughly 25 BGN for a round trip.
