Car
From Nyungwe Forest National Park, take the Nyaruguru Road (also known as the Nyungwe Road) heading north towards Huye. After approximately 35 kilometers, you will reach Huye. From Huye, take the N1 road heading north towards Kigali. After about 100 kilometers, you will approach the outskirts of Kigali. Continue on N1 until you see the signs for Akagera National Park, which is located on Akagera Road. Follow the signs and drive for about 60 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Akagera National Park located at 4PC3+5J2, Akagera Road, Rwanda. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition, as some roads may be bumpy.

Public Transportation
From Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will first need to take a taxi or a local bus to the nearest major town, which is Huye. This ride should take about 30-45 minutes. Once in Huye, you can catch a bus heading towards Kigali. Buses leave frequently, and the journey to Kigali takes approximately 2-3 hours. Upon arrival in Kigali, find a bus terminal that offers routes to Akagera National Park. Buses heading to the park usually depart from the Nyabugogo bus station. The journey from Kigali to Akagera will take about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Ensure to check the bus schedules ahead of time and buy your ticket in advance to avoid any delays.

If you prefer a more direct and comfortable option, you can arrange a ride-sharing service or hire a taxi from Nyungwe Forest National Park to Akagera National Park.
