Walking
Start from the main square in Assomada, Praça da Igreja. Head northeast towards Rua 1 de Junho. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenida 1 de Maio. Turn left onto Avenida 1 de Maio and walk for another 1 kilometer, passing local shops and cafes. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto the road heading towards the mountains, following signs for 'Serra do Pico da Antónia'. Continue walking along this road for approximately 3 kilometers. As you approach the base of the mountain, you will find a small trail that leads upwards towards the bird area.
