Getting There

    From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, head southeast on Ocean Avenue towards San Carlos Street. Take a left onto San Carlos Street and continue walking until you reach 17-Mile Drive. At the intersection, turn right onto 17-Mile Drive. Continue for about 1.5 miles until you reach the junction with Sunset Drive. Continue straight onto Sunset Drive, which will lead you along the coast. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto Ridge Road. The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary will be on your left at 250 Ridge Road, Pacific Grove.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Start at the corner of Ocean Avenue and San Carlos Street, head southeast on Ocean Avenue. Take a left onto San Carlos Street, and bike until you reach 17-Mile Drive. Turn right onto 17-Mile Drive and follow it for about 1.5 miles. When you reach Sunset Drive, continue straight and take a left onto Ridge Road. The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary will be on your left at 250 Ridge Road.
