From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, head east on Ocean Avenue toward San Carlos Street. Turn left onto San Carlos Street and continue walking until you reach 8th Avenue. Turn right on 8th Avenue and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Mission Street. From there, continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Pacific Street. Turn left onto Pacific Street, and the Old Monterey Jail will be on your left at 580 Pacific St, Monterey, CA 93940.

If you prefer to take public transport, start at the Carmel Plaza bus stop. Take the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) Bus Line 1 towards Monterey. Get off at the 'Monterey Transit Plaza' stop. From there, transfer to Bus Line 2 towards Cannery Row and get off at the 'Pacific St / Del Monte Ave' stop. Walk east along Pacific Street for about 5 minutes, and you will find the Old Monterey Jail at 580 Pacific St, Monterey, CA 93940 on your left.
