From your current location in Huntington Beach, walk to the nearest bus stop for the OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) routes. Take the Bus Route 1 towards Long Beach, and get off at the 'Pacific Coast Highway & Main St' stop. From there, transfer to the Bus Route 74 heading towards the 'Huntington Beach - Goldenwest College' stop. After arriving, walk to the nearest pier where you can catch a ferry to Catalina Island. Make sure to check the schedule for ferry times to Avalon.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Huntington Beach. Head south along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), following the bike lanes. Continue on PCH until you reach the ferry terminal at 4000 Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. Keep an eye out for signage directing you to the ferry terminal. Once there, you can board the ferry to Avalon, Catalina Island.
