From the heart of Downtown Monterey, head south on Alvarado Street towards the coastline. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Custom House Plaza. Turn right onto Custom House Plaza. Continue walking for about 0.2 miles, and you will see the entrance to Monterey State Historic Park on your left at 20 Custom House Plaza. This walk should take approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on your pace.

If you prefer to take public transport, you can catch the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) bus. Look for the MST bus stop at the corner of Alvarado Street and Del Monte Avenue. Board the bus heading towards the 'Monterey Bay' route. Ride for just one stop (around 5 minutes) and disembark at the Custom House Plaza stop. From there, it’s a short walk of about 2 minutes to the entrance of Monterey State Historic Park at 20 Custom House Plaza. Please note that a one-way bus fare is approximately $2.00.
