Discover more about San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre

San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre, affectionately known as SLO REP, stands as a vibrant center for performing arts in San Luis Obispo County. With a history stretching back to 1947, when a group of theatre enthusiasts sought to establish a drama troupe in the area, SLO REP has grown into a cherished cultural institution. Originally named the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre, the organization presented its first production, Noel Coward's 'Blithe Spirit,' in 1948. For many years, the theatre operated as a roving company, staging productions in various locations around the county. In 1993, SLO REP found a permanent home in the former City Library on the corner of Palm and Morro Streets, solidifying its presence in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo. The intimate, 100-seat playhouse provides a cozy atmosphere where every seat offers a great view of the stage. SLO REP is known for its diverse array of productions, encompassing musicals, comedies, dramas, and special events. As SLO County's only non-profit regional theatre, SLO REP is committed to providing professional live theatre experiences and educational programs to the community. The theatre has become a prominent performing arts center on the Central Coast, attracting over 23,000 people annually. SLO REP is currently raising funds for a new, larger theater complex in the Cultural Arts District of downtown San Luis Obispo, which will include two performance spaces, a rehearsal space, and administrative offices.
