Public Transit
If you are starting from Union Square, walk to the Powell Street BART station located at Powell and Market Streets. Take the BART train towards the East Bay and get off at the Embarcadero station. From Embarcadero station, exit and walk towards the waterfront. Head northwest along the Embarcadero toward Fisherman’s Wharf. Continue walking for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the Fisherman’s Wharf area. The Musical Stairs are located in this area, near the intersection of Beach Street and Montgomery Street.

If you are in the Fisherman’s Wharf area, the Musical Stairs are easily accessible on foot. From Pier 39, walk east along the waterfront on Beach Street. You will pass by several shops and restaurants. Continue walking until you reach the intersection of Beach Street and Montgomery Street. The Musical Stairs will be located on your left, nestled between the buildings.

If you are near Powell Street, you can take the iconic San Francisco cable car. Board the Powell-Hyde line at Powell and Market. Ride the cable car to the end of the line at Hyde and Beach. Once you disembark, walk east along Beach Street for about 5 minutes until you reach the intersection of Beach and Montgomery Streets. The Musical Stairs will be on your left.
