If you're starting from Union Square, walk to the Powell Street BART station. Board the BART train towards the East Bay and get off at the 16th St. Mission station. From there, transfer to the 22 Fillmore bus. Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at the Fillmore St. & California St. stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk north on Fillmore St., then turn left onto Grove St. Continue straight until you reach Alamo Square Historic District.

If you're near Fisherman’s Wharf, walk to the Powell-Hyde cable car stop. Take the cable car to the Powell & California stop. From there, transfer to the California St. bus (Line 1).
