    From downtown Santa Barbara, walk to the Santa Barbara Transit Center located at 1020 Chapala St. Catch the MTD bus #20 towards Goleta. The bus will take you along State Street and then to Hollister Avenue. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the stop near Hollister Ave and Los Carneros Rd. From there, walk east on Hollister Ave for about 5 minutes until you reach the Goleta Monarch Butterfly Grove located at 7727 Hollister Ave.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the rental shops in downtown Santa Barbara. Head north on State Street until you reach the bike path that leads towards Goleta. Continue on the path, which will eventually take you to Hollister Avenue. Once you reach Hollister Ave, turn right and continue for approximately 10 minutes until you see the entrance to the Goleta Monarch Butterfly Grove at 7727 Hollister Ave.

    If you’re feeling adventurous and want to walk, start from the Santa Barbara waterfront. Head north towards Cabrillo Blvd, then follow the path along the coast to Goleta Beach. From Goleta Beach, turn left and walk along the coast until you reach the entrance to the Goleta Monarch Butterfly Grove at 7727 Hollister Ave. This walk will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, but you’ll enjoy stunning views along the way.
