Getting There

  • Driving

    Most visitors drive to Conguillío National Park from Temuco or Melipeuco. From Melipeuco, the park entrance is approximately 20 kilometers away on a gravel road. The drive takes around 30-45 minutes. Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Sendero Sierra Nevada trailhead. Parking is available at the trailhead, but it can get crowded during peak season. Parking is free. Be aware that the road to the park can be rough, especially after rain, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

    While public transportation directly to the Sendero Sierra Nevada trailhead is limited, you can take a bus from Temuco to Melipeuco. From Melipeuco, you would need to arrange for a taxi or transfer to the park entrance and then to the trailhead. A taxi from Melipeuco to the park entrance can cost around CLP 15,000 - CLP 20,000. It's best to arrange this in advance. Consider that the last stretch from the park entrance to the trailhead might require additional arrangements.
