Getting There

• Car

  To reach Grey Glacier by car from Puerto Natales, head southeast on Route 9 for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Torres del Paine National Park. Once at the park entrance, pay the entrance fee (approximately $25,000 CLP per person) and continue driving along the park road. Follow the signs toward Grey Lake, which will lead you to the parking area for the Grey Glacier viewing point. The drive from the park entrance to the parking area takes about 30 minutes.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  From Puerto Natales, you can take a bus to Torres del Paine National Park. Several companies operate this route, including Bus-Sur and Patagonia Express. Buses typically depart from the main bus terminal in Puerto Natales, and the trip to Torres del Paine takes around 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can either hike to Grey Glacier or take a shuttle service offered by the park (additional cost applies). Confirm the shuttle schedule upon arrival as it varies seasonally.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, you can hike to Grey Glacier from the Grey Lake area. After reaching the parking area near Grey Lake, follow the well-marked trail that leads to the glacier viewpoint. The hike is approximately 11 kilometers one way and takes about 3-4 hours to reach the glacier. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, and wear appropriate hiking gear.

• Boat Tour

  An alternative way to reach Grey Glacier is by taking a boat tour from Grey Lake. You can book a tour that departs from the Grey Lake pier, which includes views of the glacier and surrounding mountains. Prices vary, so check with local tour operators in Puerto Natales for the best options.
