If you are traveling by car, take Route 5 (Panamericana) towards the north from Iquique. After approximately 140 km, look for the signs indicating the entrance to Reserva Nacional Pampa del Tamarugal at the km marker 1,828. The reserve is located near the town of Pica. Once you arrive at the entrance, there is a parking area available, but keep in mind that there may be a small entrance fee. Ensure that your vehicle has enough fuel as services are limited in the reserve.

For travelers using public transportation, you can take a bus from Iquique to Pica. Buses depart regularly from the main terminal in Iquique, and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive in Pica, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local transport service to take you to the entrance of Reserva Nacional Pampa del Tamarugal, which is about 30 km from Pica. Be prepared to negotiate the fare with the taxi driver.
