From downtown Glenwood Springs, walk to the Glenwood Springs bus station located at 9th Street and Grand Avenue. Here, you can catch the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) bus towards Aspen. However, you will need to get off at the stop closest to the Hanging Lake Trailhead. This stop is located off of I-70, near the Hanging Lake exit (Exit 125). Once you disembark, you will see a clearly marked trailhead access point that leads to Hanging Lake. Remember to check the RFTA schedule for the latest times and routes.

Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike shops in downtown Glenwood Springs. Once you have your bike, head east on 6th Street, which will take you towards the I-70 bike path. Follow the bike path that runs parallel to the highway until you reach the Hanging Lake Trailhead exit (Exit 125). The trailhead is located just off the bike path, and there are signs to direct you. The ride is approximately 3 miles and offers beautiful views along the way.

Walking
For those who enjoy a longer walk, you can start at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Head east on 14th Street, then turn right onto Grand Avenue. Continue walking until you reach the bike path. Follow the bike path towards the I-70 highway. Once you reach the Hanging Lake exit (Exit 125), you'll need to cross under the highway to access the trailhead. This route will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace, and it’s a scenic walk.
