Getting There

  • Driving

    The Great Sand Dunes Visitor Center is located on CO State Highway 150. From the south, take US 160 to CO 150 north. From the west, take CO 17 to County Road Lane 6N, then turn left onto CO 150. The visitor center will be on your right. Be aware that computer mapping programs can be unreliable in this area. Parking is free with a valid entrance pass. The entrance fee is $25 per vehicle, payable by cash, check, or credit card at the entrance station. Passes can also be purchased online.

  • Public Transport

    While there is no direct public transportation to the Great Sand Dunes Visitor Center, you can take a bus to Alamosa and then a taxi or rideshare service to the park. Taxi/rideshare from Alamosa to the visitor center is approximately 38 miles and will cost around $75-$100. Once you arrive at the park entrance, it is a short drive along Highway 150 to the Visitor Center. Keep in mind that you will also need to pay the park entrance fee of $25 per vehicle.
