Getting There

  • Driving

    From Denver, head west on US-6 or I-70 to CO-93 South. Follow CO-93 S to the entrance of Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre (Entrance #1), where the Discovery Center is located. Note that the Discovery Center is temporarily closed for remodeling, so continue to the Main Visitor Center at 16831 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465 by taking CO-93 to I-70 and exiting onto CO-470 W to Alameda Parkway. Parking is free at the Main Visitor Center. Expect a 25-minute drive from downtown Denver.

  • Public Transport

    From Denver, take the W Line light rail to the Jefferson County Government Center-Golden Station. From there, transfer to a taxi or ride-sharing service for the final 8-mile leg to the Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center. Note that the Discovery Center is temporarily closed for remodeling, so you may want to take public transport to W Colfax Ave & Colorado Mills Blvd and then take a taxi to the Main Visitor Center. The light rail fare is approximately $3, and the taxi ride will cost around $25-$35. Alternatively, bus route 16 connects Denver to Oak Station, from which you can take a taxi to Dinosaur Ridge for a similar cost.

The Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center at Dino Ridge provides an educational experience focused on dinosaurs and the area's rich paleontological history. Named after Dr. Martin Lockley, a renowned paleoichnologist and co-founder of Friends of Dinosaur Ridge, the center showcases exhibits featuring dinosaur tracks and fossils. While the Discovery Center is temporarily closed for remodeling to create space for small events, staff offices, archives, collections, and educational programming, visitors can still explore the Main Visitor Center on the east side of Dinosaur Ridge. Dinosaur Ridge itself is a segment of the Dakota Hogback in the Morrison Fossil Area National Natural Landmark. It is famous for the discovery of the first Stegosaurus fossils and dinosaur tracks. At Dinosaur Ridge, you can walk along a 1.1-mile paved road and see dinosaur tracks and bones. The site also offers guided bus tours and walking tours.
