If you're traveling by car, start by heading south on US-285 from the town of Craig or north on US-285 from Steamboat Springs. Merge onto US-40 W and continue to follow it until you can merge onto US-491 S towards Cortez. As you approach Cortez, take the exit for CO-160 E, which will lead you directly to the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. The park is located about 10 miles east of Cortez.

If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to Cortez. Check the schedules for the Greyhound or other local bus services that operate in Northwest Colorado. Once you arrive in Cortez, you will need to arrange for a shuttle or taxi to take you to the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park, as there is limited public transit directly to the park.

For those starting from Durango, take US-550 N to CO-160 W, merging onto US-491 S towards Cortez.
