Discover more about Miramont Castle Museum and The Queen's Parlour Tea Room

Miramont Castle Museum, located in the Manitou Springs Historic District, is a captivating journey into Victorian life. Built in 1895 for Father Jean Baptist Francolon, a French-born Catholic priest, the castle boasts a unique blend of nine architectural styles, including English Tudor, Byzantine, and Venetian Ogee. Francolon, inspired by his travels, created a 14,000-square-foot masterpiece using locally quarried greenstone. The castle served as his private residence before being donated to the Sisters of Mercy, who used it as a sanitarium and later as a boarding house. Today, the museum features over 30 rooms filled with Victorian furnishings, historical artifacts, and exhibits on local history, firefighting, and World War II. Visitors can explore the castle on self-guided tours and admire the unique architectural details, including medieval battlements and a Gothic front door. Don't miss the Queen's Parlour Tea Room, where you can enjoy a traditional Victorian tea experience. Miramont Castle is also rumored to be haunted, adding an extra layer of intrigue to its rich history. The Manitou Springs Historical Society saved the neglected building from demolition in 1976 and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
