Bus
From Norwalk, head to the Norwalk Transit District bus stop at the Norwalk City Hall located at 125 East Avenue. Take the 'Route 9' bus heading towards Stamford. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Stamford Transit Center. Once at the Stamford Transit Center, transfer to the Metro-North Railroad. Board the train towards Grand Central Terminal. After about 35 minutes, get off at the 'Bronx' station. From there, you can take the Bx12 bus towards 'Southern Boulevard'. Get off at the stop closest to '2300 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10460', and walk a short distance to the Bronx Zoo entrance.
Train
Begin your journey at the South Norwalk Metro-North Station located at 1 Washington Street. Purchase a ticket for a train heading towards Grand Central Terminal. After about a 50-minute ride, disembark at the 'Bronx' station. From the Bronx station, take the Bx12 bus towards 'Southern Boulevard'. Get off at '2300 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10460'. Follow the signs to the Bronx Zoo entrance from there.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike share program. Start your ride from Norwalk heading north on East Avenue. Continue onto the Norwalk River Valley Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the Stamford area, then navigate towards the Bronx by following local bike routes. This journey may take longer, approximately 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed and route taken. Ensure to follow bike lanes and traffic signals.
Walking
Walking directly from Norwalk to the Bronx Zoo is not feasible due to the distance, which is over 20 miles. However, you can walk to the nearest bus or train station, as described in the bus and train options above, to begin your journey.
