From Avarua, take either the clockwise or anti-clockwise bus. The bus fare is NZ$5 per adult for a one-way trip. Inform the driver you wish to stop at Maire Nui Gardens in the Takitumu District. The gardens are signposted along the main road (Ara Tapu). The bus completes a full circle of the island in approximately 50 minutes.

Taxis are available throughout Rarotonga, but are not considered cheap. It's best to book one by phone. From Muri, a taxi to Maire Nui Gardens will cost approximately NZ$20-NZ$30. Ensure the driver knows the destination, as it's located in the Takitumu District on the Ara Tapu road.
