Getting There

• Car

  From Cahuita National Park, head south on Route 36 towards Puerto Viejo. After approximately 7 kilometers, you will reach the town of Puerto Viejo. Continue driving for about 4 kilometers on Route 256. Look for signs that indicate Playa Punta Uva, and turn left onto the road leading to the beach. There is a parking area available near the beach, and parking is usually free.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Playa Punta Uva by public transportation, you can take a bus from Cahuita to Puerto Viejo. Buses frequently depart from the main bus stop in Cahuita. The fare is typically around 1,000 colones (approximately $1.50). Once you arrive in Puerto Viejo, you can catch another local bus heading towards Playa Punta Uva, which costs about 500 colones (around $0.75). The bus will drop you off close to the beach entrance.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Cahuita. From the center of Cahuita, take Route 36 south towards Puerto Viejo. The distance to Playa Punta Uva is about 11 kilometers. The ride offers beautiful scenery, and once you arrive, there are bike racks available for parking. Remember to wear a helmet and stay hydrated!

• Walking

  For those who enjoy hiking, you can walk from Cahuita to Playa Punta Uva, which is approximately 11 kilometers along Route 36. It’s a scenic route with plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as it can take around 2-3 hours to walk depending on your pace.
