Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Cahuita National Park, head south on the main road (Route 36). Continue for about 12 kilometers until you reach the town of Puerto Viejo. From Puerto Viejo, follow the signs towards Manzanillo. After about 6 kilometers, you will arrive in Manzanillo. Look for the 'Unnamed Road' at the coordinates J8PW+8WR. Turn onto this road and continue for a short distance until you see the entrance to Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Gandoca Manzanillo.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Gandoca Manzanillo by public transportation, take a bus from Cahuita to Puerto Viejo. Buses run regularly, and the fare is approximately $1-2 USD. Once you arrive in Puerto Viejo, transfer to a bus heading to Manzanillo. The ride takes about 15-20 minutes and costs around $1 USD. After arriving in Manzanillo, ask the driver to drop you off near 'Unnamed Road' at the coordinates J8PW+8WR. The refuge entrance is a short walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike in Cahuita. Head south on Route 36, then follow the signs towards Manzanillo. The bike ride is approximately 18 kilometers and will take around 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Once you reach Manzanillo, look for 'Unnamed Road' at the coordinates J8PW+8WR, where you can find the entrance to the refuge.
