History of Mesaoria Plain

Mesaoria Plain, nestled between the Troodos and Kyrenia mountain ranges, has been a hub of human activity since the Neolithic age. Archaeological evidence suggests that ancient communities thrived here due to the fertile soil and abundant water sources. The remnants of early settlements provide insight into the life and practices of these ancient inhabitants.
During the Iron Age, the Kingdom of Salamis rose to prominence in the eastern part of the Mesaoria Plain. Founded by Teucer after the Trojan War, Salamis became one of the most important city-kingdoms in Cyprus.
