Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to Smithbridge Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803. From Wilmington city center, take I-95 S for approximately 5 miles. Then take exit 7 for DE-202 N toward Greenville. Merge onto DE-202 N and continue for about 2 miles. Take the exit toward Smithbridge Rd, and then turn left onto Smithbridge Rd. Follow the road for about 1 mile, and you will find Smith's Bridge Covered Bridge on your right. There is no parking fee at the bridge.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin at the Wilmington Train Station. Take the SEPTA train from Wilmington to the Claymont station. From Claymont, you can take the DART bus Route 1 towards Christiana Mall. After approximately 30 minutes on the bus, get off at the Smithbridge Rd & Route 202 stop. From there, it is a short 10-minute walk to Smith's Bridge Covered Bridge. Be sure to check the DART schedule for bus frequency and plan accordingly.

  If you're feeling adventurous and would like to bike, consider starting from downtown Wilmington. You can take the bike path along the Brandywine River. Head south until you reach I-95, then follow the designated bike routes to Smithbridge Rd. The route is approximately 6 miles and is mostly flat, making for a pleasant ride.
