Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the central area of Barahona. Head southeast on Avenida Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó towards Calle 12 de Julio. Continue on this road for approximately 2.5 kilometers. You will reach a roundabout; take the second exit to stay on Avenida Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó. After about 1 kilometer, you will see signs for Balneario Surmarino. Turn right onto the access road which is marked with local signage. Follow this road for about 500 meters until you reach the entrance to Balneario Surmarino, which will be on your left. There may be parking available near the entrance for a small fee, typically around 100 Dominican Pesos.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, locate a local 'carro público' (shared taxi) that travels towards the coastal area or specifically to 'Los Patos' or 'la playa' (the beach). These typically depart from central Barahona. Make sure to ask the driver if they can drop you off at Balneario Surmarino specifically, as some might not go directly there. The fare is usually around 50-100 Dominican Pesos per person. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, you may need to walk a short distance if the driver cannot drop you off directly at the entrance.
