Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Latacunga, which is approximately 1.5 hours away from La Laguna Quilotoa. From Latacunga, take the E35 highway heading south towards Ambato. After about 24 km, turn left onto the E30 road towards Pujilí. Continue on the E30 for approximately 20 km until you reach the town of Zumbahua. Here, you will see signs directing you to Quilotoa. Follow the road signs for another 12 km until you reach the parking area near La Laguna Quilotoa. Please note that the last stretch to the lagoon involves steep and winding roads, so drive carefully. There may be a small fee for parking.

Public Transportation
To reach La Laguna Quilotoa using public transportation, begin your journey in Latacunga. Head to the bus terminal and look for a bus that goes to Zumbahua; buses frequently leave throughout the day. The bus ride will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Zumbahua, you can either take a taxi or walk for about 12 km to reach the lagoon. Walking is a scenic option but can take around 3 hours. If you choose to take a taxi, it should cost around $10 to $15. Ensure to check the bus schedule for your return trip as buses may not run late in the day.

For the adventurous, consider hiking to La Laguna Quilotoa from Zumbahua. Start your hike from the town, following the marked trails. It’s a 12 km trek, which can take approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on your pace and fitness level. The trail offers stunning views of the Andean landscape. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, as well as a sturdy pair of hiking shoes. This option is free but will require good preparation in terms of physical fitness and supplies.
