Metro and Walking
Start at any metro station in Cairo. Take the Metro Line 1 (the Red Line) towards El Marg. Get off at the Giza station, which is the last stop on this line. Upon exiting the station, look for signs directing you towards the pyramids. You can either take a taxi or a local minibus (microbus) to the Giza Plateau, where the Great Sphinx is located. The taxi ride is approximately 15 minutes, while the microbus may take slightly longer but is a more economical option. Once you arrive at the Giza Plateau, walk towards the entrance area where you can purchase tickets for the Sphinx and pyramids. Follow the signs leading to the Sphinx.

Public Bus
From Tahrir Square, head to the nearby central bus station. Look for buses going to Giza or the Pyramids. Once on the bus, inform the driver that you want to get off at the Giza Plateau. The bus ride will take around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. After arriving at the Giza Plateau, pay the entrance fee and walk toward the Great Sphinx, following the signs.

If you are staying in a hotel near the Giza area, such as those along the Pyramids Road, you can walk to the Great Sphinx. Simply head towards the main road leading to the Giza Plateau. It’s about a 20-30 minute walk from many hotels, and along the way, you can enjoy views of the pyramids. Once you reach the entrance of the Giza Plateau, purchase your ticket and walk towards the Sphinx.
