Getting There

• Ferry

  If you're starting from the West Bank, head towards the banks of the Nile River. Look for the local ferry dock, which is often bustling with tourists and locals alike. Purchase a ticket (usually around 5 Egyptian pounds) from the ticket booth. The ferry ride across the Nile to Luxor City takes about 5-10 minutes and offers stunning views of the river and surrounding area.

• Walking

  Once you arrive at the Luxor City ferry dock, disembark and turn right onto the main road (Corniche). Walk along the Corniche for about 15-20 minutes. As you walk, you’ll see various shops, cafes, and street vendors. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Luxor Temple, which is located just off the main road. The temple is well-marked and can be easily spotted from a distance due to its towering obelisks.

• Local Transportation (Horse-drawn Carriage or Calash)

  If walking isn't preferable, you can hire a horse-drawn carriage, known as a Calash, from near the ferry dock. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically costs around 30-60 Egyptian pounds depending on the distance. The carriage ride will take you directly to Luxor Temple, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way.

• Public Bus

  For a more local experience, you can look for a public minibus or microbus heading towards Luxor Temple. These buses are generally inexpensive (around 5-15 Egyptian pounds) and can be found near the ferry dock. Be sure to ask the driver if they stop at Luxor Temple. The ride may take about 10-15 minutes, and you'll be dropped off close to the temple entrance.
