If you are starting from the Viljandi City Center, head towards the main square (Viljandi Keskplats). From the square, take the street named Tallinna Street (Tallinna tn) heading east. You will pass by several shops and cafes. Keep walking straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Pika Street (Pika tn). Turn right onto Pika Street, and continue straight. After about 5 minutes, you will see signs directing you to Viljandi Castle Ruins. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at the castle ruins, which is located on a hill overlooking the lake.

If you are near the Viljandi Museum, exit the museum and head towards the main road (Koidula Street). Turn left and walk along Koidula Street until you reach the intersection with Tallinna Street. Turn right onto Tallinna Street and continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Pika Street.
