Getting There

  • Driving

    From Vágar Airport, drive west on Route 22 towards Sørvágur. In Sørvágur, follow Route 45 towards Gásadalur. The drive is approximately 15 minutes. Before reaching Gásadalur, you will drive through a one-lane mountain tunnel (Gásadalstunnilin). Be aware that there are lay-bys inside the tunnel to pull into when meeting oncoming traffic. There is no toll to use the tunnel. Parking is available near the waterfall in Gásadalur.

  • Public Transport

    From Vágar Airport or Tórshavn, take bus route 300. From Sørvágur, you can take bus route 350 to Gásadalur. The bus from Tórshavn to Gásadalur costs around 350 kr. A public transport card for four days costs 500 kr.

  • Walking

    From Sørvágur, hike approximately 5 km to Gásadalur. The trail begins near the Sørvágur church and offers scenic views of the ocean. Alternatively, hike the old postman's route from Bøur to Gásadalur. This challenging hike takes you over the mountains and offers stunning views of the surrounding islands. Be aware that the path is steep and can be challenging, especially for those with a fear of heights. There is no public transport to Bøur, so renting a car, booking a guided tour, or taking a taxi are possible options.
