Te Mana O Te Moana: Guardians of the Polynesian Marine World

Te Mana O Te Moana, meaning "The Spirit of the Sea" in Tahitian, is an environmental organization committed to safeguarding the Polynesian marine environment, particularly sea turtles. Founded in 2004, the organization operates from the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa in Faa'a since June 2023. Te Mana O Te Moana focuses on concrete actions to understand, educate, and protect the Polynesian marine environment. The association manages conservation programs, educational activities, and scientific partnerships. These initiatives include a sea turtle care center, educational programs for children, and research programs on marine turtles, coral reefs, and marine mammals. Visitors can take a one-hour guided tour of the sea turtle rehabilitation center to learn about sea turtles, their life cycle, and the challenges they face. The tour allows guests to observe turtles needing special care, including those with injuries. The organization also offers an online educational platform to raise awareness about Polynesian marine life.
