Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the central square of Telavi, known as 'Telavi Central Park'. From there, head towards the main street, which is named Aghmashenebeli Street. Walk along this street for about 700 meters until you reach the intersection with Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue. At this intersection, turn left onto Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue. Continue walking straight for approximately 1 kilometer, where you will see signs directing you towards Akhali Shuamta. Look for a small path leading off the main road, and follow it uphill for about 500 meters until you arrive at the Akhali Shuamta Monastery.

  • Public Transport

    From the central bus station in Telavi, take a local minibus (marshrutka) that is headed towards the Old Shuamta Monastery. You can ask locals or the bus driver to confirm the correct minibus to take. The ride should take about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the stop for Old Shuamta, exit the minibus and follow the signs towards the monastery. It's a short walk of about 200 meters uphill to reach the entrance.
