Located in Schönhausen (Elbe), the Bismarck Museum offers a glimpse into the life and legacy of Otto von Bismarck, one of Germany's most influential statesmen. The museum is housed in a side wing of the Schönhausen Palace, the birthplace of Bismarck. The main house was destroyed during the DDR era, but the side wing was preserved and renovated to house the museum. The museum's exhibits include an array of artifacts, documents, and personal effects that belonged to Bismarck, providing an immersive experience into the political and cultural landscape of 19th-century Germany. Visitors can explore the exhibits and learn about Bismarck's early life, education, and family. The museum also displays gifts Bismarck received for his contribution to the founding of the German nation in 1871, along with personal items and historical images. Many of the exhibits are on loan from the State collection and were acquired from the Bismarck family, originally part of the first Bismarck Museum that operated in Schönhausen from 1891 to 1948. Near the museum, visitors can explore the Romanesque church where Bismarck was baptized and the baroque park that once belonged to the manor house. The park was created in 1711 in the style of French Baroque gardens and features a lime tree avenue, water trenches, and a pond.
