Dommuseum Brandenburg: A Journey Through Ecclesiastical Art and History
Discover the whimsical Waldmöpse (forest pugs) scattered throughout Brandenburg an der Havel, a unique tribute to comedian Loriot, and explore the city's rich history and charming waterways.
The Waldmops am Dom, or Forest Pug at the Cathedral, is a delightful and quirky attraction in Brandenburg an der Havel. These bronze sculptures, scattered around the Dominsel (Cathedral Island) and the city center, pay homage to Vicco von Bülow, better known as Loriot, a famous German comedian and cartoonist born in Brandenburg. Loriot created the 'Waldmops' character, a pug with antlers, in one of his sketches. Since 2015, these whimsical statues have been 'released' into the city, inviting visitors on a playful scavenger hunt. Discovering each Waldmops adds a touch of humor and artistic flair to your exploration of Brandenburg's historic sites. The sculptures are a unique blend of art, comedy, and local pride, making them a must-see for anyone visiting the city.
