Note that Brockenstraße is closed to vehicle traffic beyond a certain point, so walking is often the most direct option. Be aware that the walk involves a gentle uphill climb.

If arriving by bus from Wernigerode (Line 264), disembark at the 'Schierke, Rathaus' stop. From there, follow Brockenstraße north as described in the 'Walking' guidance. The Nationalparkhaus is a 10-15 minute walk. A single bus fare from Wernigerode to Schierke is approximately €4-€6, but if you have a WERNIGERODE-ticket (guest card provided by accommodations), the bus is free.

If arriving by car, park at the 'Am Winterbergtor' multi-story car park on the edge of Schierke. From the car park, cross the bridge towards the town center and follow the signs to the Nationalparkhaus, approximately a 15-20 minute walk. Parking fees at the 'Am Winterbergtor' car park are approximately €1.50 per hour or €8 per day. Please note that parking is very limited in Schierke, especially during peak season.
