The Jewish Synagogue is located at Olganou 6 in the Barbouta neighborhood, the old Jewish quarter of Veria. From Elia Square, the city's main thoroughfare, walk towards the Tripotamos River. The synagogue is located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, known for its narrow, cobbled streets and traditional houses. Constructed in 1850, it stands on the foundations of an older synagogue, possibly dating back to the 1st century AD when St. Paul preached here. The synagogue served as the center of Jewish spiritual and social life until 1943 when most of Veria's Jewish community was captured by German forces during World War II.
