Getting There

  • Driving

    From Mount Jumullong Manglo, head southwest on Route 4 for approximately 5 miles until the intersection with Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1 and continue for about 2 miles. Take the exit for Route 9 towards Yona. Merge onto Route 9 and drive for about 1.5 miles. Look for a sign for San Carlos Swim Hole on the right. Park in the designated area and follow the trail to the swim hole. Parking is free in the field near the closed gate.

  • Hiking

    From the parking area near Nimitz Hill, follow the dirt tracks to a paved road with a pipeline. Turn left and follow the road until you reach a fenced-in valve vault. Turn right, and follow the road to a tower. To the right of the tower is a trail that follows the ridge line to a forest of palms. At the edge of the forest, descend into the river valley with the help of ropes. Hike downstream carefully to reach San Carlos Falls. Continue downstream, then take a right and follow the river upstream to reach the San Carlos Swimming Hole. Allow approximately 4 hours for the 3.2-mile hike.
