From Guatemala City or Antigua, take a bus to Los Amates. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes approximately 3-4 hours. From Los Amates, take a local bus or taxi to Quirigua. The ruins are a short distance from the main highway. Bus fare from Guatemala City to Los Amates ranges from $10-$26. A taxi from Los Amates to Quirigua will cost approximately $5-$10.

From Guatemala City, drive east on Highway CA9 towards Puerto Barrios. The drive to Quirigua is approximately 203 km and takes around 3.5 hours. Once you arrive in the vicinity of Quirigua, follow the local signs to the archaeological site. Parking is available at the site for a small fee.

Walking
If arriving by bus to the main highway near Quirigua, the entrance to the Acropolis is approximately a 2 mile walk down Ruinas de Quirigua Road. This is a quiet, narrow country road lined with banana trees. Alternatively, try to take a collective taxi (mototaxi) for the final leg of the journey.
