Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the Harpa Concert Hall located at Austurbakki 2, 101 Reykjavík. Head west along the waterfront to Sæbraut street. Continue walking west until you reach the intersection with the bridge over the river. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto Grótta road which will lead you towards the Grótta Island area. Follow the road until you reach the end where you will find a path leading to the lighthouse on Grótta Island. The walk will take approximately 40-50 minutes.

  • Bus

    From the main bus terminal (BSÍ), take bus number 11 towards Seltjarnarnes. Get off at the 'Grótta' stop. From there, it’s a short walk towards the coastline. Follow the path that leads to the lighthouse. The total travel time will be around 30 minutes including the bus ride and walking.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in downtown Reykjavík. Start from the city center and head towards the coast along the bike paths. Follow the route towards Seltjarnarnes, which will take you through scenic waterfront views. When you reach Grótta, park your bike and walk to the lighthouse.
