From Illinois Beach State Park, exit the park onto North Lake Avenue and head southwest. Continue on North Lake Avenue until you reach the intersection with West Route 173. Turn right onto West Route 173 and continue for about 3 miles. Merge onto I-94 South toward Chicago. After approximately 10 miles, take exit 14 for IL-120 West toward Grayslake. Continue on IL-120 West for about 6 miles, then turn left onto W Winchester Rd. The Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County will be on your right at 1899 W Winchester Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048.

From Illinois Beach State Park, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to the nearest Metra train station, which is located in Zion, IL. Once at the Zion Metra Station, board the Metra train on the North Central Service line toward Chicago Union Station. Travel for about 20 minutes and disembark at the Libertyville station. From the Libertyville station, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to the museum, which is approximately 3 miles away. The total travel time will vary but expect at least an hour and a half including waiting times.
