For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle in Leh can be a great way to reach Alchi Monastery. Start from the Main Bazaar and head west towards the Leh-Srinagar Highway (NH 1D). Follow the highway for about 70 km until you reach the sign for Alchi. The journey will take several hours, and be prepared for some steep climbs and descents along the way.
