Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Guwahati, take National Highway 6 (NH6) towards Shillong. The distance is approximately 100 km, and the journey takes about 3 hours. Once you reach Shillong, follow the signs to North Eastern Hill University. The Department of History is located within the university campus. Look for the main entrance of the university, and follow the road signs to the Department of History. There is usually no parking fee, but check for any specific regulations.

• Bus

  From Guwahati, you can take a bus to Shillong. Buses frequently depart from Guwahati's Paltan Bazar. The bus ride takes around 3 to 4 hours and costs between INR 200-300. Once you arrive at the Shillong bus station, you can either take a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw to North Eastern Hill University. The fare from the bus station to the university should be around INR 100-150.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Guwahati to Shillong. The journey will still take about 3 hours, and the cost is generally around INR 2000-2500. The driver will take you directly to the Department of History at North Eastern Hill University. Ensure to confirm the fare beforehand.

• Local Transport

  Once in Shillong, if you are within the city, local taxis or auto-rickshaws can help you reach North Eastern Hill University. Fares typically range from INR 50-150 depending on your starting point. Make sure to specify your destination clearly.
