Car
If you are driving from Gangtok, head towards the East Sikkim area. Start by taking the NH10 from Gangtok towards Rangpo. Continue on NH10 for about 15 km until you reach the junction at Singtam. Turn left towards the road leading to Rakkadong. Follow this road for approximately 8 km, and you will see signs indicating the way to Butterfly Waterfalls. Look out for local landmarks, such as the nearby Rakkadong village. The waterfalls are about 1 km from the main road, and you may need to park your car and walk the last stretch to reach the waterfalls. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as the roads can be narrow and winding.
Public Bus
From Gangtok, take a shared taxi or local bus to Singtam. This should cost around ₹30-₹50 per person. Once you reach Singtam, switch to a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Rakkadong. The fare for this leg is about ₹20-₹30. Upon arriving at Rakkadong, you will need to walk approximately 1 km to reach Butterfly Waterfalls. Be sure to ask locals for the best path to the waterfalls as it might not be clearly marked.
Trekking
For those wanting a more adventurous route, consider trekking to the Butterfly Waterfalls. Start your trek from Rakkadong village, which is accessible by car or public transport. The trek itself is about 2-3 km and takes roughly 1-2 hours, depending on your pace. The trails can be steep and uneven, so wear appropriate footwear and carry water.
