Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the heart of Mass Ave, head southeast on Massachusetts Ave toward East St. Continue walking for about 0.4 miles (approximately 8 minutes). As you walk, you will pass various shops and eateries, making it a delightful stroll. Once you reach the intersection with East 10th St, turn left onto East 10th St and walk for another 0.2 miles (approximately 4 minutes). You will then turn right onto Lockerbie St. The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home & Visitor Center will be on your left at 528 Lockerbie St.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  If you prefer to take public transport, you can catch the IndyGo bus. From Mass Ave, head to the nearest bus stop located on Massachusetts Ave. Look for Bus Route 8 (Washington) or Route 39 (East 38th St). The ride will cost $1.75 for a single fare. Once you board, stay on the bus for about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Get off at the stop near the intersection of East 10th St and Lockerbie St. From there, it’s a short walk to the museum, just 0.1 miles (approximately 2 minutes).

• Biking

  For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the nearby bike-sharing programs. Head southeast on Massachusetts Ave and then take East 10th St. Continue straight until you reach Lockerbie St. The total biking distance is about 0.6 miles. It should take around 5-10 minutes.
