Getting There

    From Newport, take the N59 towards Mulranny. Continue on the N59, passing through Mulranny, and turn right at the signposts for Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre. Follow the road for approximately 14km to Ballycroy village. The visitor centre is located in the village, with the main entrance 300m on the right. Parking is free at the visitor centre. Note that parking can be limited during peak season.

    The Bus Éireann route 978 operates between Castlebar and Béal an Mhuirthead (Belmullet) and stops at Ballycroy. From the Ballycroy bus stop, the visitor centre is a short 5-minute walk. Check the Bus Éireann website for the most up-to-date timetable and fare information. As of July 2025, a single adult fare from Newport to Ballycroy is approximately €10-€15. A free shuttle bus service operates within the park during the summer months (June-August), connecting Westport and Bangor-Erris with stops at Newport, Letterkeen, Mulranny, Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail, and the Ballycroy Visitor Centre.
