Getting There

  • Train

    From Herculaneum, walk to the Ercolano Scavi train station, which is about a 15-minute walk north from the archaeological site. Once at the station, purchase a ticket for the Circumvesuviana train towards Sorrento. Board the train and ride for two stops until you reach the Pompei Scavi (Villa dei Misteri) station. Here, transfer to a bus heading to Vesuvius National Park. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and you will get off at the Vesuvius National Park Visitor Center.

    From Herculaneum, head to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Corso Resina. Take the EAV bus number 5 or 9 that goes towards the Vesuvius National Park. The bus ride will take about 40 minutes, and you will want to get off at the Vesuvius National Park Visitor Center stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as the frequency may vary throughout the day.

    Start from the Herculaneum archaeological site and walk towards the Ercolano Scavi train station, which takes about 15 minutes.
